LORNA DOCKSTADER
North Pacific Blues
Acrylic on canvas 36 x 36
$3550
Inspired by a late-May cruise through the Pacific Northwest, Lorna found quiet moments among the coastal waters and icebergs. She brings the same focus on simplicity and colour she applies to Canadian landscapes, exploring themes of purity, solitude and the calm certain places can bring.

BRUCE EDMUNDSON
Tea Service
Vancouver Island Big Leaf Maple Burl 4 x 18 x 16
$700
“One of my family artifacts, from my mother’s side, was a tea service, of which only the tray has survived. Like many ‘heirlooms’ it is much more than its tangible presence; it radiates history and is a mnemonic for family lore.” – Bruce Edmundson
Veteran
Vancouver Island Big Leaf Maple Burl, Granite base 25 x 18 x 8.5
$1200
“Veteran is inspired by my days as a timber cruiser. In forest management a ‘veteran’ tree is defined by its characteristics such as its height, decay, cavities, or a dead and or broken top, regardless of its actual age. These features are often a result of damage from weather, animals, forest fires, lightning or even past forest management practices, all of which the tree has survived. They were usually much older than the stand of timber which they oversaw. From one point of view, they were unlucky, crooked, split, discoloured, and asymmetric; from another they were magnificent survivors. It was an occasion to come across these ‘vets’, and we did our best to maintain them.” – Bruce Edmundson
