MARIA JOSENHANS
Rising and Falling
Oil on canvas 36 x 36
$4550
Based directly on a 12×12” painting I did on location, Rising & Falling, recalls the slow and gentle rising and falling of ocean swells as the tide comes in, bringing with it a tangle of logs, some that will remain, others that will retreat. There is magic in this spot… I have painted en plein air here for many years, and it never ceases to amaze me with its rhythm and beauty, just as it did that January day.

Rawson Lake Shallows
Oil on canvas 30 x 30
$3700
To see through the water is like looking into history. The trees that once stood on the shores now decorate the floor of the lake like pick-up sticks, glowing in the spotlight. How wonderful it is to sit at the edge of the lake and ponder what was before. I hope to return to Rawson Lake before too long and note what else might have changed.
