Tanya Bone’s masterful ability to work in a classical way is evident in her two new arrivals. Tanya grew up on the Canadian prairies and spent much of her childhood on her grandparents’ farm in Saskatchewan. Later, living in Vancouver, British Columbia, she methodically pursued her art training. She completed art studies at Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Langara College, and the Federation of Canadian Artists in Vancouver, where during her training she received Great Distinction Status recognition. For 15 years, The Avenue Gallery has been in the midst of Oak Bay Village, attracting passersby with striking art works in its show window. This week, I dropped by for a visit with owner Heather Wheeler to talk about the past, present and future of one of Victoria’s premier galleries.
