Bob’s Gondolinos series is inspired by the glass Venetian gondolas made famous by Italian maestro Lino Tagliapietra. While the hull shapes nod to these iconic works, Bob has made them entirely his own with textured, blended glass powders that create richly nuanced surfaces. Each piece is made through multiple firings of kilnformed sheet glass and powders, slumped in custom two-part moulds, then carefully cut and ground to achieve the final shape. To enhance its graceful presence, the Garnet Gondolino is elevated on glass rods, giving the impression that it is floating above its base. Like all of Bob’s glass art, the Gondolinos celebrate the beauty, history, and functional roots of the medium while exploring new artistic possibilities.

Combining beauty and functionality, Bob’s collection of new sushi dishes is inspired by fish from around the world. Each piece is crafted by pressing a linocut pattern into glass powder, firing at low temperatures, and hand-painting details with transparent powders, enamels, micas, lustres and dichro extract flakes.
