MARY-JEAN BUTLER
Lone Arbutus
Oil on canvas 36 x 24
$2800
Mary-Jean’s new oil paintings reflect the rugged landscape of British Columbia’s coastline. Her education in both fine art and graphic design play a strong role in the stylization of her work.
Standing Tall
Oil on canvas 36 x 24
$2800
The focus of my work is the exploration of looking inward when interpreting the landscape, the opposition of different forms, lines and colour to intensify each element’s dynamic properties. The study of contrasts between massive trunks juxtaposing the most delicate of foliage, the blackness of a heavy handed shadow intensified by playful strokes of light. – Mary-Jean Butler

VANCE THEORET
Ice Fishing Lessons
Brazilian Soapstone, Indian Soapstone (base) 8.5 x 8 x 11
$1200
Vance carves a variety of subjects, but bears are by far his favourite: “Bears are like big kids that never really grow up. So I can get away with portraying a lot of human qualities in them.” – Vance Theoret
Owl Be Right Back
Brazilian Soapstone, Aventurine (base) 11 x 5 x 5
$800
I like to let the stone tell me what it wants to be… when I do this the end product is so much more alive than if I had forced my design upon it! Doing this also allows the stone to work with you and puts colours and patterns in places that you couldn’t plan any better… Although I take my work seriously, I try not to take myself too seriously… so much of my work has a light playfulness about it! – Vance Theoret
Can See A Lot From Here
Indian Soapstone 5 x 8 x 4

There is an emptiness inside a pot that will hold everything. Empty, it receives and fills up with who I am. The more spacious and open on the inside, the more beautiful and fulfilled on the outside. – Sandra Dolph

EUNMI CONACHER
Jackpoint View
Acrylic on canvas 48 x 36
$4200
Eunmi’s newest abstracted landscapes show her spirited vision of our west coast.
Arbutus
Acrylic on canvas 48 x 24
$3100
As a contemporary impressionist and expressionist artist, my desire is to create paintings which bring energy to the canvas… more an expression of the mood in the scene rather than a realistic picture. I use depth of colour and form to balance realism and abstract. My hope is that viewers connect emotionally with my paintings in their own way. – Eunmi Conacher
Oslo
Acrylic on canvas 40 x 40
$4000

Curves and Edges
Brucite with Marble Turntable Base 14 x 9 x 7
$3500
When I think back to my short time at school, I remember that all my school books were covered with circular doodles. Now when I look at these lyrical sculptures, I see that they are the evolution of those doodles. When sculptor and friend, Mark Hiesel, saw these pieces he said, “you’re always chasing the curve.” The name Curves and Edges comes from the song sung by John Legend, All of Me. – Maarten Schaddelee
