“Fractured Light I is one of my all-time favourites and marked a real shift in my work. I usually begin with a photograph, and in this piece, I moved beyond that starting point by working into the surface with paint and oil sticks, disrupting the original forms until a new way of seeing emerged.
Traces of the earlier image remain beneath the surface, allowing the landscape to unfold in layered and expressive ways. The scene itself becomes secondary to what I am trying to convey, the movement of light, the presence of wind and the feeling of being there.
What I discovered in this painting continues to shape my newer work, and it feels like an important step in my evolving style.”

STEPHANIE TAYLOR
Soft Landing
Oil on canvas 48 x 48
$6000
“Soft Landing is for the West Coast lover, full of moss, ferns, leaves, and sticks and bugs. A contemporary take on something deeply familiar to those of us who live here, there is always something new to notice and experience in these spaces, while still feeling comforting and familiar.”

Kendrick
Oil on canvas 36 x 36
$3500
“Kendrick was painted during a hot spell when I kept taking ocean swims from a sketchy entrance off some rocks. I would thrash my feet on barnacles and mussels every time I got in, but I was mesmerized by the way the light danced in the shallow water, something familiar to anyone who lives on the coast of BC.
The colours of seaweed and shells and the green water sparkling in sunlight on a bright summer day hit the senses in a way that is sharp and thrilling but always worth it.”

Pond Study
Oil on canvas 48 x 60
$7500
Relentlessly creative, Stephanie moves between abstraction and impressionism, incorporating elements of representational detail to convey the fleeting emotive experience in nature, while anchoring the viewer in a specific environment.
Abstract Freighters
Oil on canvas 40 x 60
$6250
The light is a common focus in many of Stephanie’s pieces; paintings are constructed in layers often with vivid underpaintings that infuse the landscape with an elemental glow.

Bayot considers working with precious metals and gemstones a rare privilege, one that comes with the responsibility to honour these materials through lasting design. In this stunning new pair of earrings, he continues to be guided by Piet Hein’s words: “true design asks one thing of us, to uncover what it covers.”

RICHARD MOTCHMAN
Parksville Bay, Parksville
Oil on panel 36 x 36
$2900
A fresh perspective from Richard, as he expands on his exploration of tangled growth and intimate forest landscapes. While his work often draws us deep into the quiet complexity of undergrowth, Parksville Bay, Parksville opens outward, revealing coastal rocks and the ocean beyond. The result is a layered sense of depth that still invites the same contemplative looking his paintings are known for.
Off Hughes Road, Saanich
Oil on panel 36 x 36
$2900
Born in Mombasa, Kenya, and raised in Penticton, BC, Richard’s artistic journey began at an early age. Inspired by his reading of Vincent van Gogh in his teens, he became determined to pursue a life in art. Richard went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from the University of Victoria in 1982.
