We are excited to announce that The Avenue Gallery will be featured on CHEK News’ The Upside on Wednesday, October 14!
The Upside highlights positive stories, people and local businesses in our community, and we are thrilled to be included.
The live filming will take place at the gallery from 5–7pm, with segments airing during the evening CHEK News broadcasts.
We will be keeping the gallery open until 7pm that evening, and we invite you to come by, be part of the excitement and perhaps even find yourself on CHEK News!

What is The Upside?
The Upside is a lighthearted TV segment with Jeff King and Ed Bain from CHEK News that highlights positive stories from our community, bringing levity and smiles to viewers.
Is the gallery actually open that evening?
Yes! We are staying open until 7pm on Wednesday, October 14, and everyone is welcome to come in. You can browse, shop and enjoy the evening while the live filming takes place.
Do I need a ticket or RSVP?
No. Just come by!
Is the filming actually live?
Yes! The Upside will be broadcasting live from The Avenue Gallery during the CHEK News evening broadcasts on Wednesday, October 14. If you don’t live in Victoria, you can still catch the excitement on CHEK News or stream the broadcast live on their website or app.
Can I still shop while filming is happening?
Absolutely! The gallery will be open for browsing and shopping throughout the evening.
Will you be on TV the whole time?
We wish! No, the news anchor will cut to us a handful of times, and The Upside team will be live from the gallery for a few minutes each time.
What happens when you’re not live?
Enjoy the evening! Browse the art, shop, ask us questions, catch up with friends, enjoy a treat, and maybe even watch the CHEK News team work their magic.
Do I have to be on TV?
No. There’s no expectation that visitors participate or speak on camera. Since it’s a live broadcast in an open gallery, though, there is a chance you could appear in the background of a shot.
Is there anything special happening?
Yes! We will have refreshments, nibblies, sweet treats and a few special touches to make the evening fun.
Do I have to dress up?
Absolutely not. Come as you are!
