Wedding Band by Bruce Edmundson
Wedding Band is an example of trying to illustrate a very human concept – marriage – that uses an elemental natural shape – the circle – with a rare natural product, the burl. The burl is particularly suited as the whorls of the bird’s eye grain reflect the circular design. The live-edge, which challenges the smooth round man made ring, the gap where the circle is incomplete, and the imperfections inherent in live-edge sculpture, reflect the tension and challenges inherent in the very human need to couple and join in marriage. – Bruce Edmundson
