GRIZZLY LAKE – Sunshine ski resort, just west of Banff, is a popular location in winter. However, in August, the fields are filled with wildflowers. After taking the shuttle bus up the hill, we began our hike to Standish mountain lookout. Upon arrival, we could see a stone marker showing us that we were now in British Columbia. From here you can see Grizzly Lake down below, a little gem of turquoise. And from this height, later in the afternoon,we could also see an approaching snow storm crossing the valley. Knew it was time to finish my watercolour, as my fingers became so cold I could barely hold the brush any longer. It was time to head back, would be sure to continue painting some of these locations in my studio. – Lorna Dockstader
