Description
THROUGH THE FOREST – Continuing our exploration of the island, we headed west towards Cathedral Forest. It was early, and the ancient cedars were backlit by the morning sun. The floor of the forest was covered in fern, and looking through the dark lacy branches reminded me of stained glass windows. It centered me, and made me happy. I looked up through the tops of the tress to see if I could feel their swirling rhythms, the way that Emily Carr had. I had to do a painting of this sacred place. A small one, first and later, a tall vertical. – Lorna Dockstader
