Monfette, Louise
Louise is a sculptor based in Victoria, BC. She studied at both the Ontario College of Art and the Victoria College of Art, completing her formal training in 2003.
Inspired by her daily walks by the sea, Louise observes quiet moments that often go unnoticed: people sitting on benches, gazing out at the ocean, resting with their dogs, or meeting a friend. Whether it is a solitary figure or a couple deep in conversation, arguing, or embracing, her sculptures explore the quiet connectedness of life.
Most of her sculptures are made in clay, then fired and painted with acrylics. She often incorporates bronze tones with other colours to create a rich, metallic patina.
Louise has exhibited in both public and commercial galleries throughout BC. Her work in sculpture and painting has received jurors’ awards from the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Sooke Fine Arts Show.
