Moving from Mombasa, Kenya to Penticton, BC at three years old inspired my first forays into drawing and art. But after reading about Vincent van Gogh in my teens, I felt impelled with the serious notion of becoming an artist. I graduated from the University of Victoria in 1982, earning a B.F.A., with a major in visual arts.

My art practice has always sought to stretch a traditional understanding and perception of painting. I’m truly engaged by painting landscapes that focus on areas of tangled growth. This close-up view of a complex undergrowth in a forest draws a viewer into the quiet contemplation of detailed observation.

My paintings have been exhibited in solo and two-person exhibitions in British Columbia, Oregon, and group exhibitions in both Canada and the USA. My work is in private collections in Canada, the USA, and England.
