Jeremy grew up in Southern Ontario and graduated from Guelph University in 1979 with a degree in Fine Art, majoring in printmaking.

Moving to Ottawa, he discovered the beauty of stained glass and began designing abstract landscapes for the Wells Gallery. In 1996, Jeremy moved to Vancouver, BC, where he now resides. In 2002, Jeremy studied glass fusing and slumping under Melanie Rowe and bought his first glass kiln. From 2003 to 2007, he participated in a number of group exhibitions curated by the BC Glass Art Association. He has been showing his fused glass work in Vancouver for the past 20 years.

Jeremy has explored a variety of fusing techniques, including pot melts, hand-pulled cane inclusions, and designing with dichroic glass, all of which can be seen in his most recent series: ‘Windows’, ‘Organics’, and ‘Jazz’, respectively.

Artist Statement:

Having worked with glass in various forms for five decades, I am most interested in exploring the qualities unique to glass as a medium: transparency vs. opacity, surface pattern vs. depth, and control vs. flow. Often, it is the juxtaposition of these aspects which sets up a tension in my glass designs. I enjoy working with black, white and clear glass, as well as brilliant colours and pastels.

My most recent series, “Jazz”, uses highly-reflective dichroic glass to achieve random compositions of colour. Inspired by jazz greats Miles Davis and Billie Holiday, my Jazz series of jewellery reflects the playfulness and spontaneity found in their music.
