Talking to the Wind
Acrylic on canvas 36 x 36
My work is always changing, which gives me the pleasure to experiment and to move forward. I work and re-work my paintings until I reach the point when I feel that they express just the right amount of layering, structure and depth. The final colour constellations invite the viewer to find their own personal experience of my pieces. I believe that that’s what art should do. – Marianne Meyer

Salt Spring Island Big Leaf Maple burl, Artisan Granite Base 27 x 15 x 6
This piece was from a blow down maple on Salt Spring Island that was about to become firewood before a very gracious lady offered it to me. It was a gift that has given me several sculptures. While carving this it brought to mind those gifts you get that you don’t know what they are, or how important, or valuable until some time afterwards. It takes a bit of exploration amongst the swirls and waves, the bird’s eye and the live edge to get to where this piece takes you, which is the joy and humanity of giving. – Bruce Edmundson
