Sterling Silver, Black Jade, Garnet and Pearl
I am one of the few metal artists in the country extensively using stone inlay in my work and I constantly experiment to find unexpected and non-traditional ways of incorporating stone into jewellery pieces. I love to play with the surprise of asymmetrical designs and unexpected material combinations.

Vancouver Island Yew 21 x 10.5
Slow growing, generally small to medium-sized trees, pacific yew is a wood full of surprises. The grain can go in several directions at once and there are often knots and pockets of bark where least expected.
These challenges make successfully working a piece through the process to finished sculpture that much more rewarding. Referred to by some as the ‘cognac’ of wood, yew polishes beautifully and finishes a magnificent warm, glowing orange. – Steven Stairs
