Oil on canvas  36 x 28

Ron pays tribute to majestic Clover Point, located on the shores of Victoria. Wind-whipped waves crash upon beached kelp as the storm clouds build – a typical west coast day.

For Ron’s upcoming solo exhibition in October, his brush will capture the magnificence of the beaches that flank the Juan de Fuca trail…China Beach, Mystic Beach and Botany Bay.

“My work is an evolution, a continuation of an idea. When I begin a series, I start with charcoal on paper. I get as many of these raw concepts down on paper as I can. This exploration period may last for days or weeks until I feel I have developed these designs enough to begin working on canvas. Some of these forms have been nurtured and developed for years, transforming into repeating themes and patterns in my paintings.” – Blu Smith
