“As an artist, when creating a piece my goal is always to give a little more or do a little better than the piece before. I feel that when we create something meaningful we give a piece of ourselves. In this particular work, I have taken this idea quite literally. The character pulls actual pieces or threads from itself. Offerings sent out into the world in hopes of establishing some sort of connection. And if you think that’s heavy, just try picking it up. Threads weighs in at 23.5 lbs!” – Janis Woode
