Standing Alone by Kimberly Kiel
I’m MOST interested in manipulation of the paint, mark making and surface texture (and because of my process probably discard almost as much paint as actually ends up on the canvas!! Not a very efficient way to paint, suffice it to say. )
I use large palette knives, putty knives, big brushes – usually with very stiff bristles, as I don’t actually clean my brushes – and squeeze bottles of paint. And lots and lots of blue shop towels. They are as important as the other tools! I have also taken to mixing cold wax into some of my oil paint, to further facilitate mark making and additional texture.
