Cycles Earrings by Lindsay Stocking Godfrey
These earrings are created using a technique called Hollow Work. First form the outside wall shapes in sterling as if making bezels. Solder these on top of a Sterling Plate in the position desired. This will be the bottom. At this time I put a hole of sorts (star) in the metal to create a pressure release when soldering.
After quenching the hot metal with the attached “bezels” drill a hole in the centre, or negative space, saw out the inside shape. As well trim the outside wall as close as possible. File totally flat the unsoldered side and solder to a sterling plate, repeat the above process, next file all sides smooth and polish.
