I’ve always been drawn to art and have been painting for many years. Born and raised in the San Francisco bay area, California, I have a Graphic Communication, B. Sc. degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. After marrying an amazing Canadian, I moved to Surrey BC, Canada, where I pursued my passion for painting at University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and Focal Point Photography Studio; spending hours and hours in my studio experimenting and honing my style.
In 2015, I was a recipient of a month-long artist residency to the prestigious Vermont Studio Center, the largest international artists’ and writers’ residency program in the United States. My paintings are in collections within Canada – BC, Ontario, the Maritimes, plus the United States and Australia. – Patty Ripley
“Painting the essence of how I experience say, a hike along a shore trail, and conveying that through color choices that make my heart sing – this is deeply satisfying. When I take life experiences back to my studio, some paintings are light and happy while others are deeper and contemplative ~ varied like my life. Art communicates in profound, magical ways.” – Patty Ripley
